2018 in Review

It really is true that the older you get, the faster the years roll by. I have a hard time believing that 2018 is already just about over! This year zipped by so fast, but I had an amazing time on the ride! So many new things were in the works this year....which after 11 years of doing events is why I love this business! Always changing, always on your toes, always something new! I was blessed to meet some absolutely amazing people this year, from brides to vendors and venue owners. Looking forward to more in 2019!

#TuesdayTips :: Budget Breakdown

If you're just starting on the journey of planning your wedding, the budget is really the first thing that you should establish! Nothing should be purchased or booked until you know what you should spend on each area and what you can afford. Follow these tips when establishing your wedding or event budget:

Budget Breakdown
Accessories 1%
Hair & Makeup 2%
Printed Materials 2%
Transportation 3%
Dress 4%
Cake 5%
Wedding Planner 5%
Extra Cushion 5%
Tipping 5%
Lighting 5%
Venue Rental 5%
Photo & Video 8%
Entertainment 10%
Flowers & Décor 15%
Food & Beverage 25%

Apply your wedding budget to the above percentages to see how much you should be spending on each category. If certain areas are more important to you or if you're foregoing one section entirely, you can move the percentages around to accommodate. The budget is always a balancing act depending on your wants and needs.

Visit our additional budget breakdown posts, starting with
Accessories. We cover each section individually to give you the breakdown and savings tips for each category, and each blog post links to the next! Happy budgeting! :)

#SignatureSaturdays :: A Very Cherry Christmas Cocktail

Ingredients
  • 2 ounces Cherry Vodka
  • ½ ounce Baileys
  • ½ ounces Chocolate Liqueur
  • Splash of cream
  • Chocolate Syrup
  • Several maraschino cherries
Instructions
  1. Fill a shaker with ice and pour in the vodka, Baileys, the chocolate liqueur, and cream.
  2. Shake well until chilled.
  3. Optionally, drizzle a chilled martini glass with chocolate syrup.
  4. Strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass.
  5. Garnish with cherries on a skewer.

The Very Cherry Christmas drink recipe tastes quite a bit like a chocolate covered cherry. It blends cherry vodka with the flavors of chocolate and Irish cream to create a flavor that's rich, sweet and easy on the palate. This is a great one for Christmas parties.

Winter Events of Yesterday

December is down time around the studio this year. We had an event on Dec 1, but for the next few weeks we're in-house working on plans for 2019. In doing that, I've had to go through some of our past events in search of certain examples and photos. I have to say we've had some gorgeous winter events over the years! I decided to go through them and pick some of my favorites to do a throwback post and share some my favorites!
