Venue Spotlight :: Sparrow Creek Ranch Open House

Sparrow Creek Ranch is a charming rustic barn in Graham, Texas...but don't think of it as your typical barn wedding. It's got a touch of sparkle and glam! Inside is filled with chandeliers, a gorgeous wall full of mirrors to be used as a backdrop for photos or the head table, acres and acres of gorgeous property for photos, and plenty of extra details included! Tables, chairs, chalkboard signs, string lighting, tables, chairs, a mantle for decorating, and an antique truck perfect for photos or incorporating into your décor! 

When you rent Sparrow Creek Ranch for your wedding or event, you get the entire place for 3 days. Pick up keys on Friday and return them on Sunday. Plenty of time for rehearsal, setup, time with family, photos on the property, ceremony, reception, and a non-rushed clean up. The story behind this venue is even better...Kalli's parents built this barn for her wedding, and now they rent it out to others for their weddings! Such a heart warming story! Planning Tips :: Wedding Budget Breakdown :: Photo + Video

Pictures are worth a thousand words! Your photos and videos of your wedding will stay with you forever...so don't be afraid to get what you want and pay what you need to! Photo and video is suggested to be at 8% of your budget. For example, if your budget is $20,000 then your photo/video budget would be $1,600. Always keep in mind the budget can be shifted...if you want to spend less in another category, move the extra to your photo/video budget to increase it.

Questions to ask when booking:

Insurance: What kind of insurance do you have? Some venues require liability insurance to shoot there.

Contract: Can I review your contract before I sign? Don't ever book a photographer without a contract stating everything included in your package.

How Many Shooters/Backups: How many shooters will photograph my wedding? What happens in an emergency? Is there a backup shooter?

When will I receive my images/prints? Turnaround time should be anywhere from 2-8 weeks depending on the amount you're waiting on.

::TIPS ::

1. You can always deduct from other categories to add to this percentage and raise the amount you have for photo and video. Maybe you can cut back the guest list a bit, or you won't be using that expensive limousine...you could move that extra over to photo and video budget to be able to get a larger package or more extras.

2. Find a photographer/videographer you love and stick with them for everything; engagement, rehearsal, wedding, bridal photos...this way you get to know them (and how they work), they get to know you (and what you want)...and you may even get a discounted rate for booking the entire package.

3. You can find great companies who provide both photo and video services. Sometimes getting a package with both from the same company can save on your overall cost. Plus, it's always great to work with a team who has worked together before!

4. Make sure to know what's included in your package and what is additional before you book. Ask for all additional fees up front so you can budget for them from the beginning. This will include things like prints, books or albums, parents albums, ordering reprints, etc...

All I can say is OMG! These chocolate creations are ooh-soo-good! I had the pleasure of stopping by Yelibelly Chocolates in Addison today and met with the amazing chocolatier herself, Yeli. It was a fabulous meeting! She has some gorgeous and delicious options for so many events....weddings, graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions...even corporate logos for business events or client gifts. Truffles and bon bons, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered Oreos and chocolate covered strawberries are all on the list of offerings from Yelibelly! Vendor Spotlight :: Wendy Kromer Confections

Almost ten years ago, Wendy Kromer did my wedding cake. I lived in Sandusky, Ohio at the time and her bakery was literally two blocks away from my home. I had swooned over her cakes for so long through Martha Stewart Weddings, and I was beyond thrilled that I was able to book her for my wedding! The experience of everything when working with her was amazing. I went through a cake tasting in her Water Street bakery, and everything was so amazing that I had trouble deciding which two flavors I wanted. In the end we went with Red Velvet (my choice) and Mocha (his choice).

Ten years later, over 100 events later plus my own wedding, and her cakes are still among my all time favorites! All of her confections are impeccably beautiful, mouthwatering, and so perect you wish you didn't have to cut into them! After a decade as a runway model in Paris & Tokyo, Wendy Kromer-Schell moved to New York City, enrolling in the Pastry Arts program at Peter Kump School of Culinary Art (now known as the Institute of Culinary Education).  There, a life-time hobby of making Desserts became a Career.

On completion of her Pastry Arts degree, Wendy worked with Colette Peters of Colette’s Cakes & Food Network fame. Shortly after, Wendy presented her first “sugar showpiece” at the 1995 Culinary Art Show in NYC, earning her a coveted 1st Place Ribbon, as well as the attention of Martha Stewart.

Since 1995 Wendy continues her work with Martha Stewart Omnimedia as Contributing Editor, producing hundreds of wedding cakes for Martha Stewart Weddings. One has also seen her decorated cookies, cakes, and other Dessert stories in Martha Stewart Living; Martha Stewart for Macy’s; numerous catalogs & TV.

In 2007, Wendy co-authored Martha Stewart’s Wedding Cakes (Clarkson Potter), which features over 100 of her Wedding Cake designs & recipes. Other books, magazines & TV shows featuring her work include:

Molly + TJ had a breathtaking Catholic ceremony followed by a beautiful and rockin' reception at a historic venue in Columbus, OH. This entire group was nothing but amazing to work with! Molly and her father performed an amazing dance together! TJ played a surprise on Molly...when he went for the garter, he instead came up with a rubber chicken (we had taped it under the chair for him at his request). Such a great reaction from everyone! This wedding was full of one-of-a-kind memories that I will never forget, and everyone had so much fun making them! Thank you all for the wonderful memories, and I wish Molly + TJ the happiest of anniversaries with many, many more to come!

Heather + Rob had are a sweet and bubbly couple who threw a gorgeous tropical themed wedding to celebrate their union. Everything from the favors (mini palm trees) to the centerpieces (tropical flowers and leaves) to the wedding cakes (Hawaiian shirt) carried on the tropical vibe! It was completely classy and bright! One of my favorite parts was a surprise serenade by a wedding guest during the Dollar Dance....and he did an amazing impression of Sinatra! It was a fabulous wedding all around! Happy Anniversary to Heather + Rob, and best wishes to your family!
