Vendor Spotlight :: Lucero Cervantes Photography

I had coffee with Lucero last week to chat about an event we have coming up, and it was such a lovely time! How about this...we ordered the exact same coffee! White chocolate mocha! She is such a beam of light and such a sweetheart! Her style of photography is bright, light and colorful...as well as her personality! A beautiful style for weddings and engagements! Check out some of her work below and see what she does. Amazing things come from behind this lens! So glad to have connected with Lucero and can't wait to work with her next week at the Sparrow Creek Ranch Open House!

Planning Tips :: 7 Modern Wedding Traditions You'll Want to Use

Tradition and etiquette both certainly have a place in weddings, but in today's time new traditions are being passed down. While these new ways to do things are accepted these days, they're definitely not what's thought of as traditional! Check out some of these ways to make your wedding personalized and more your own!

1. Pick A Seat, Not A Side
In time honored tradition, there is a bride's side and a groom's side at the wedding ceremony. Nowadays, its acceptable to mix the guests and allow them to "pick a seat, not a side". You can let guests know by having an adorable sign at the entrance to the ceremony telling them to sit wherever they'd like!

2. Family or Friends Reading Special Words
This can be a scripture, a poem, a writing by the family member, a favorite quote or saying, or any other special words you'd like to be said by a special person at your wedding.

3. Groom's Grand Entrance
The bride isn't the only one who can make an entrance! The groom can be escorted in to his own fanfare song with parents or other family. Wonderful start to the ceremony! The groom can also have attention moments throughout the reception as well...do something special and make his garter toss something to remember!

4. Write Your Own Vows
You can personalize your words of love! This is a personal and romantic way to promise to love one another forever!

5. Replace wedding cake with your favorite dessert.
Have a buffet of your favorite dessert(s) rather than wedding cake. Make it personal and make it what you love! Or you can do it both ways....have a smaller cake to keep the tradition of cutting and photos....then you can have sheet cakes in the back to serve to guests (if you wish), or provide them with a dessert buffet to enjoy!

6. Include your pet.
Pets are part of the family, so of course they should be included in a special day like wedding day! They can carry rings, flowers, signs...so many fun and cute ways to include the family pet!

7. Make it your own!
Are you an Aggie? Incorporate that into your wedding cake somehow. Is ice cream your favorite thing in the world? ? Have it made and served at your reception for the wow factor.  Do you travel a lot for entertainment? Share your travel stories and pictures as table numbers. Take each detail into consideration and really make it personal and your own!

Congrats Mykel + Mike :: September 16, 2017

Today is wedding day for Mykel + Mike! Such a charming wedding for an adorable couple at Chapel Creek Ranch, a rustic gem of a venue in Denton. Absolutely lovely place for a wedding! The ladies sent photos so I knew exactly what they wanted, and it turned out so lovely! Mykel even had me add a shotgun shell for her Dad's boutonniere...loved that!!

Congrats Mykel + Mike!! :)
